Step 1

- Visit the Hellenic Tax Center website website and click on 'ΕΙΣΟΔΟΣ' button:

Step 2 

- Enter your Greek Tax Number ('ΑΦΜ') and Vehicle Registration Number ('Αριθμός Κυκλοφορίας') using Greek characters, check the year and then click on 'Αναζήτηση' (Search).
- If the entered information were correct a search success message ('Επιτυχής αναζήτηση. Πατήστε εκτύπωση') is displayed and the button 'Εκτύπωση' is now enabled!

Step 3 

- Click on 'Εκτύπωση' button to print your Tax notification sheet. It allows you to view and print (if connected to a printer) or save as a PDF by clicking the download button on your browser window. You can print more than once, if necessary.
- If the database returns an error or no match is found, you need to contact the tax office to update or correct the vehicle’s records.

Step 4 

- A two-part sheet is shown that you can print and take it with you at a Post Office of bank to pay your Tax.
- You can also use the Payment ID Number in grey background at the end of the sheet to pay by e-banking (Greek bank).

What is Road Tax or Circulation tax?

Circulation tax or "τέλη κυκλοφορίας" (teli kikloforias) in Greece is a tax applied to all vehicles with Greek license plates that are registered at the tax office as active. It is a road tax for using a vehicle on a public roads. In some countries it is known as a registration fee, motor tax or excise duty.

How often do I pay?

Car tax in Greece is payable yearly, with December 31st as the deadline for the following year's road tax. Vehicle owners will have to visit an online service to print the pay slip and pay later at a post office, bank or tax office. You can also pay it online via web banking form a Greek Bank.

What if I pay my Circulation Tax late?

The penalty for paying late is the double amount of the circulation tax.

How much will I pay?

Circulation tax is calculated according to engine capacity, and rates are subject to change annually.
Vehicle Tax rates 2020 for vehicles registered up to year 2000:
  • 51cc to 300cc 22€
  • 301cc to 758cc 55€
  • 786cc to 1,071cc 120€
  • 1,072cc to 1,357cc 135€
  • 1,358cc to 1,548cc 225€
  • 1,549cc to 1,738cc 250€
  • 1,739cc to 1,928cc 280€
  • 1,929cc to 2,357cc 615€
  • 2,358cc to 3,000cc 820€
  • 3,001cc to 4,000cc 1,025€
  • 4,001cc and above 1,230€

'Green Fee' - Vehicles registered after November 2010 are also assessed a ‘green fee’ instead according to grams of carbon emissions (CO2) per kilometer:
  • 0 – 100 (g/km): None
  • 101 – 120 (g/km): 0.90€
  • 121 – 140 (g/km): 1.10€
  • 141 – 160 (g/km): 1.70€
  • 161 – 180 (g/km): 2.25€
  • 181 – 200 (g/km): 2.55€
  • 201 – 250 (g/km): 2.80€
  • 251 and above (g/km): 3.40€

Withdrawing a vehicle from circulation?

Those who cannot or do not wish to pay the road tax can withdraw their vehicle from circulation. To do this, you need to visit a tax office in person.

What is Luxury Vehicle Tax?

All vehicles registered after 2002 with an engine capacity over 1929cc are paying a luxury tax. It is paid along with the tax income slip every year.
